Before the keynote stages, the live television broadcasts, and the world of live commerce, there was sports.
Sports broadcasting was where Craig Smith's professional journey began. It was his first opportunity to combine two passions: connecting with people and telling meaningful stories.
As a sports reporter and broadcaster, Craig learned that the most compelling stories were rarely found in the final score. They were found in the athletes, coaches, teams, and communities behind the game. Covering sports taught him how to listen, ask better questions, uncover what matters most, and communicate it in a way that audiences could understand and appreciate.
Those experiences laid the foundation for everything that followed.
While Craig's career eventually expanded into live television, commerce, keynote speaking, and audience engagement, his love for storytelling never left. Today, he continues to write, interview, and develop content across a variety of industries. In addition to speaking and hosting, Craig is frequently hired to ghostwrite articles, develop thought leadership content, and tell the stories of executives, organizations, and business leaders looking to strengthen their connection with customers, employees, and communities.
At its core, the work remains the same.
Whether covering a championship game, interviewing a business leader, writing an article, or speaking from a stage, Craig believes every great story begins with understanding people.
The reel below offers a look back at where that journey started—and the storytelling skills that continue to shape his work today. Check out Craig's sports broadcasting reel below.
